Construction begins on the Pichlmühle on Lake Attersee

Combining structural engineering, building physics, and sustainability: With the start of earthwork and excavation, the official kickoff for the Pichlmühle in Nussdorf am Attersee has taken place. Now that the construction plans have been finalized, work is beginning on this forward-looking hotel and apartment project located right on the shores of Lake Attersee.

From Plan to Reality: Construction Begins on a Pioneering Wood Construction Project
With the start of construction, work begins on a unique timber-frame project in Austria. The «Pichlmühle» in Nussdorf am Attersee is a high-end apartment hotel built using timber construction methods that combines tourism, architecture, and sustainability. The project comprises 46 hotel apartments across three building units, complemented by a 250 m² spa area. The location is particularly appealing due to its close proximity to Lake Attersee and the Attersee-Traunsee golf course.
The energy concept relies on geothermal and photovoltaic systems and is designed to achieve a level of energy self-sufficiency of approximately 90 percent. At the same time, the building is being developed according to «klimaaktiv» criteria and constructed as a certified timber structure. The architecture and interior design are by BWM Designers & Architects [www.bwm.at/de]. The project is being carried out for the client, CE Holding GmbH. The timber construction work is being performed by Weissenseer Holz System-Bau GmbH of Greifenburg.

Timbatec Holzbauingenieure ZT GmbH is overseeing and taking responsibility for the project in the areas of timber structural engineering and building physics. We are also providing the environmental data required for sustainability certification. Following the successful completion of the detailed design phase, we are delighted that the project is now taking shape on site and becoming a reality.
