International Timber Construction Forum

04.12.2022

When the timber industry gathers in Innsbruck, the year draws to a close. This year, more than 2,500 wood enthusiasts flocked to the International Timber Construction Forum and followed exciting presentations such as the one by Lukas Rüegsegger on wildlife bridges in timber construction.

In his presentation Lukas Rüegsegger showed how wildlife bridges can be built today in timber construction. With the construction of roads, railways, infrastructure buildings, settlements as well as industrial and commercial areas in Switzerland, wildlife connectivity is limited. The habitats are geographically demarcated with insurmountable barriers, which the animals' natural urge to move is suppressed. Wildlife bridges reconnect the animals' reservoirs. Made of wood, they are particularly environmentally friendly.

Timbatec has designed two wooden wildlife bridges in Neuenkirch and Rynetel, which have recently been completed. Click here for the article in the proceedings of the 26th International Timber Construction Forum IHF 2022 .
